BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — Ideal weather continued for the second round at Aberdeen Golf & Country Club, setting the stage for another competitive day at the Florida Senior Open. As play wrapped up, the field was trimmed to 62 players who will return for the final round on Wednesday, April 24.
What Happened?
Miles McConnell (a) wasted no time making a statement, opening with back-to-back birdies on the first and second holes. He tallied six birdies total en route to a 3-under 69, taking the clubhouse lead as the afternoon wave began their rounds.
Rod Perry of Crane Lakes Golf & Country Club remained steady, backing up his strong opening round with a 1-under 71. The 2011 Florida Open champion continues to keep himself in contention heading into the final day capturing solo second place.
Defending champion David Schuster made a major move up the leaderboard, firing a 2-under 70 to jump 24 spots, pulling himself back to even after starting the day over par.
Yesterday’s leader, Timothy Cantwell, was unable to recreate his success from the first round, but still sits in a favorable position, solo third, after a 1-over, 73.
Notably, Guy Boros and Jonathan Kaye shared the low round of the day firing off scores of 5-under 67. Boros poured in seven birdies, moving up 72 spots on moving day; meanwhile, Kaye’s bogey-free round vaulted him 52 spots higher and into a tie for fourth place.

The field has been cut to 62 players who completed the first two rounds at -over par or better. Tee times tomorrow, Thursday, April 24, will begin at 7:45 AM off of holes #1 and #10. The awards ceremony will immediately follow the completion of play.
