West Orange Country Club in Winter Garden played host to the final Winter Series Event of the 2013-2014 Season.
In the 40-54 Division, Round 1 saw Lloyd Fisher, of Dade City & Gary Shover, of Parish both jump out to a tie for the lead with 1-over par 72's. Fisher entered the event with the 40-54 Points list locked up with his 3 previous victories, while Shover sat in 2nd on the list with victories at the Sarasota Four-Ball & Orlando Individual Events. Round 2 would see Mike Dameron, of Zephyrhills who started the day 4 strokes back, would catch Shover at 148 total with a second round 72 and force a sudden death play-off. Damron's par on the 2nd playoff hole would be good enough to win. Lloyd Fisher finished alone in 3rd place. By winning the 40-54 Points List Title, Fisher will now be exempt into the 97th Amateur Championship at Quail Valley Golf Club, June 19th-22nd, in Vero Beach.
The 55-64 Age Division, saw a handful of players enter the event with a chance to capture the points title. Round 1 saw Jerry Rose, of Sarasota jump out to a 1 stroke lead with an opening 74. Rose would again post the low round of the day in his division on Tuesday with an even-par 71 for 145 total and a 3 stroke victory over the trio of Owen Joyner, of Naples, Dennis Brady, of Melbourne, and Howard Logan, Naples. The top 20 players from the 40-54 Points List earn exemptions into the 53rd Senior Amateur Championship at Vero Beach Country Club, April 15th-17th, in Vero Beach. With this victory Jerry Rose passed John Vaccaro for the 55-64 Points List Title, earning him an exemption into this falls Mid-Amateur Championship at The Loxahatchee Club, October 9th-12th, in Jupiter and the 54th Senior Amateur Championship in 2015.
Edward Craig, of Orlando shot rounds of 73-72--145 en route to an 8 stroke victory in the 65 & Over Age Division. Tom Austin, of Lake Wales secued his 3rd consecutive 65 & Over Points List Title. Austin earns an exemption into the 53rd Senior Amateur Championship at Vero Beach Country Club, April 15th-17th, in Vero Beach.

The Winter Series events include seven competitions, six individual events and one four-ball event. There are three age divisions, Mid-Senior (40-54), Senior (55-64) and Super Senior (65 & over). The Winter Series is a great opportunity for golfers to compete in competitive events that normally may not because they do not live in Florida year round.
