JUPITER, Fla. – It is last year’s runner-up who sits at the top of the leaderboard following the second round of play at the 102nd Amateur Championship.
Marc Dull posted another under-par round on Friday to head into the third round with a one-stroke lead.
Dull, who lost to Gabe Lench on the second playoff at last year’s championship, posted a 2-under 70 in the second round to move to 6-under 138 for the championship.
He finished the second round with three birdies and from the third hole on played bogey-free golf. Through 36 holes, the Winter Haven native has only carded one bogey or worse.
"Happy to be leading. I'm still a little mad about last year. Hoping to get it done this year," Dull said.
A 3-under 69 in the second round puts Joey Latowski one stroke behind Dull heading into third round. He recorded a bogey-free front nine with three birdies, before finishing the back nine at even-par.
Latowski, who finished runner-up at the Mid-Amateur Championship in May, a 5-under 139 for the championship.
"I'm comfortable with where I am. I played really well in the Mid-Am last month and I carried that over." Latowski said.
Colin Kresl and Carl Santos-Ocampo tied for third place at 4-under 140. Kresl posted the low round of the day on Friday with a 4-under 68. The Univeristy of Central Florida junior had seven birdies on the day to move up the leaderboard.
“Dropped a lot putts, that was definitely the key part of my round,” Kresl said.
Santos-Ocampo secured another 2-under 70 in the second round.
