Doug LaCrosse and Joe Alfieri teamed to post a 9-under 63 at Doral Golf Resort's "Blue Monster." The two-time defending champions are two strokes ahead of Tampa’s Jimmy Jones and Mike Walters and four strokes ahead of Ocala’s Steve Albright and Inverness’ Kelly Gosse.
LaCrosse, who is a four-time FSGA Player of the Year, started teaming with Alfieri, the 1999 FSGA Player of the Year, in 1999. They have competed in five state four-ball events and have won four of them including the 1999 and 2000 Florida State Four-Balls.
The final round begins Sunday at 8:00am with play once again on the “Blue Monster” course.
The Florida State Four-Ball Championship is the eighth of 17 state championship conducted annually by the Florida State Golf Association.
