Ocala's Steve Albright overcame a 7-hour rain delay to post a 2-under par 70 Saturday to day at 4-under par after three rounds of the 84th Florida State Amateur Championship at World Woods Golf Club After sharing the lead the first two rounds, Albright has built himself a three-stroke lead into the final round.
Joe Alfieri of Lutz (71-72-71-214) and Brent Bush of Palm Beach Gardens (70-72-72-214) stand tied in second place. Alfieri has finished in second place in the last two State Amateurs.
Steve Carter of Jacksonville Beach made the biggest move of the day with a 5-under par 67. He is now four strokes behind Albright and in a fourth-place tie Robbie Schulz of Naples.
The final round begins Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m. A trophy presentation will be held immediately following play. The champion receives a crystal vase as well as his name permanently inscribed on the Clarence Camp Trophy.
