Tampa's Don Lucas and Boynton Beach's Bob Harris remained tied for the lead after the second round of the 33rd Florida State Senior Championship at the Country Club of Ocala. Both players followed their first-round 71 with a second round 75.
Palm City's John McKey, Jr. moved one shot behind in third place with a 1-over 73 in the second round for a 147 total.
Defending champion Jack Veghte is still in the hunt at two strokes back. Veghte, a four-time State Amateur champion and three-time State Senior champion, is looking to become the first player to win four State Senior titles.
Joseph Cristillo, Sr. of Crystal River made the biggest move in the second round by posting a 1- under 71 to move into a tie for fourth. His first round 77 had him tied for 22.
The field is made up of 156 of the state's best amateurs age 55 and over. Final round play will begin Thursday at 8:00 a.m. An awards presentation for the senior champion (55-69) and super-senior champion (70 and over) will immediately follow play.
