Rio Pinar Country Club leads the field of 20 teams by 11 points. Dennis Postlewait led the team gaining 46 points in the first round. Cap Caponi contributed to the team’s success with 43 points in the first round. Also playing for Rio Pinar, Philip Meng earned 41 points as Jeff Decker posted 40 points for the day. Rio Pinar finished second in last year’s Club Team Championship. TPC of Tampa Bay sits in second place recording a first round total of 119 points.
In the Senior Division, Black Diamond Ranch has a commanding 12 point lead with 131 points. Ron Green posted a team high 47 points. Dave Blackshear, Carl Nanni and Bill Joens also make up Black Diamond’s team. Buckhorn Springs is in second place with 119 points.
A tradition since 1941, the Club Team is open to traditional golf clubs that own their own course and are members of the FSGA. The four team members must each be members of the club. Each team member will play 36 holes of individual stroke play using stableford scoring. Total of best 3 point totals of 4 will count as team score each day, high team point total for 36 holes will be the champion.

Organized in 1913, the Florida State Golf Association is a not-for-profit organization that governs amateur golf in the state of Florida. In addition to conducting 25 championships for amateur golfers in the state, the FSGA is responsible for more than 40 qualifying tournaments for USGA National Championships and the Florida Junior Tour. The FSGA also maintains the USGA Handicap System, performs course ratings throughout Florida and assists in junior programs and scholarships.
