Paul Melson, of Plantation, the 2003 Mid-Senior Champion, shot a 67 on the South Course at the Club at Mediterra to hold a one stroke advantage. Melson, with partner Edward Kenny, won this year’s Four-Ball Championship in July. Two-time Florida State Public Links Champion Robert Parker, of Sanford, posted a 4-under par 68 on the Cypress Course at Bonita Bay East to share second place with Patrick Rooney Jr., who shot 68 at Mediterra. James Weick, of Fort Lauderdale, recorded a 70 to sit in fourth place while defending Champion David Sutton, of Maitland, is tied for seventh after shooting even par.
To be eligible for the Mid-Senior Championship, players must be 40 years of age or older. The Championship consists of 54 holes of stroke play cut to the low 70 plus ties after 36 holes. The first two rounds will be played on the Cypress Course at Bonita Bay East and the South Course at Mediterra. The final round will be played on the Cypress Course at Bonita Bay East.

Organized in 1913, the Florida State Golf Association is a not-for-profit organization that governs amateur golf in the state of Florida.
