Benedict & Gold Wrangle a Win

NAPLES, Fla. - The Women's Shoot-Out proved to be a duel coming down the home stretch of the final round at The Vineyards Country Club. It was the team of Kim Benedict and Madyson Gold who prevailed over tough competition to raise the Shoot-Out trophy. The Shoot-Out consistes of a scramble format during the first round on Saturday, and a Four-Ball format for the final round on Sunday.
 

Championship Division

Two teams tied at the top of the leaderboard after a fiery round one of scramble format. The team of Amy Kennedy/Suzanne Ricard tied the team of Kim Benedict/Madyson Gold at 8-under par, 64 for first. Close behind in a tie for third were the teams of Lin Culver/Tama Caldabaugh and Mary Jane Hiestand/Susan Temple. It would be a duel for the title of shoot-out champion in round two.

Sunday's final round of Four-Ball competition started with a bang with a hole-in-one on the fourth hole from Mary Jane Hiestand. This was the second hole-in-one of the tournament with Hazel Roy making her first ever hole-in-one during the first round on the same hole. 

Hiestand's hole-in-one and Temple's birdie on the second hole bumped the defending 2024 champions up the leaderboard. Kennedy and Ricard held firm in the race for the solo lead with an even par final round to finish in second place at 8-under par. Despite a 2-under round two from Hiestand and Temple, the team of Benedict and Gold did not lose sight of the lead. The 2021 and 2025 Women's Mid-Amateur champions respectively, Benedict and Gold raised the Shoot-Out trophy with a two stroke victory. 

Hiestand and Temple rounded out the top three at 7-under par, three strokes back. The team of Kim Keyer-Scott/Joy Passalacqua played steady golf lurking close behind in the final round to finish in fourth place. 

Middle Division 

An impressive scramble round of 6-under par from Betsy Knights and Hazel Roy gave the team a two stroke lead after round one. In wire-to-wire fashion the duo secured a first place victory after a second round 74 and 6-under par finish. Colleen Callahan and Grace Allmaier advanced up the leaderboard in round two to claim second place at 1-under par. 

In the Middle First Flight, Jennifer Rushmore and Liz Boudreaux were the definition of consistency with back-to-back rounds of 70 leading them to a first place finish. The team of Ella and Piya Thompson finished four strokes behind in second place at even par.

The team of Danielle Fields and Jodi Vanhove took home the win in the Middle Second Flight after rounds of 70-74 for an even par finish.
