Hiestand/ MacLean & Fiedorowicz/ Passalacqua Breeze to the Top

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The golf course wasn’t the only thing testing the ladies at the start of this year’s Women’s Senior Four-Ball Championship. With wind gusts reaching up to 30 mph, the teams of Mary Jane Hiestand and Adrienne MacLean(Senior Division) and Donna Fiedorowicz and Joy Passalacqua (Super-Senior Division) were the duos that managed to conquer the tough conditions, securing top spots heading into the final round.

What Happened?

Conditions were making it difficult for players to go low, yet it was the team of Hiestand/ MacLean who captured the lead at the end of the first round. The duo put together the only under-par round in their division, with a 1-under 72. They carded three birdies on the back nine, including a birdie on the 18th hole that secured their position under par.

Defending champions Tama Caldabaugh and Kim Keyer-Scott shot a 1-over 74, salvaging their round with a birdie on the 18th to take solo second place. Therese Quinn and Lin Culver completed the top three with a 2-over 75.

In the Super-Senior Division, the team of Fiedorowicz/Passalacqua surged ahead with a commanding 4-stroke lead over the competition. They wasted no time, birdieing their first hole to take an early lead. Although they stumbled with a bogey on the 5th hole, they quickly bounced back with a birdie on the 6th, finishing the day with a 1-over 74.

Tied for second place were the teams of Shawn Anderson/Debbie Caruso and defending champions Taffy Brower/Kathie Westlund, both shooting 5-over 78 in the first round.

What’s Next?

The final round will begin tomorrow at 8:30 AM with a shotgun start. By the end of the day, we will crown champions across all divisions.
