LONGWOOD, Fla – Mike Finster and Brian Keenan captured the 2024 Senior Four-Ball Championship at the Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes in convincing fashion after the two combined for rounds of 64-64--128, en route to a 5 shot victory.
After severe rainfall and multiple hurricanes had pushed back the 2024 Senior Four-Ball Championship nearly two months from its originally scheduled date, a field of 42 teams converged on The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes. The team of Mike Finster & Brian Keenan started the week hot and never looked back on their way to a 5-shot victory.
In Round one, the two would birdie three of their first four holes to jump out to an early lead, a lead they never gave up. Turning in 32, they birdied four holes on the back nine to post an opening 8-under 64 and hold the overnight lead by 2 over 3 teams at 6-under par.
In Tuesday’s final round, Finster & Keenen would see their lead shrink to one after a few early pars, but a bounce back eagle at the Par-5 fourth would get their lead back to two and never closer for the remainder of the round. Six birdies in the last 12 holes gradually grew their lead, eventually capturing their 5-shot victory.
Chad Ibbotson & Chad Frank fired rounds of 66-67--133 and finished in a tie for second with the team of Rod Bayliss & Steve Revere who had rounds of 67-66-133. The three time champions, Don Whittemore & Pete Williams had rounds of 68-67135 to finish fourth and Bart Abstein and Billy Lodise rounded out the top-5 at 70-66-136.
