TAMPA, Fla. – From November 14th - 17th, 132 PGA Assistant Professionals competed in a 72-hole stroke play tournament at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The 132-player field includes PGA of America Assistant Professionals or registered Assistant Professional Associates who earned berths through their local PGA Sections.
It was Domenico Geminiani who outlasted the field at the PGA Assistant Professionals Championship, firing off rounds of 65-67-70-74 (-12) to claim victory. Geminiani, a Florida Junior Tour (FJT) alumnus, claimed the winner's check of $14,700. Geminiani, originally from Italy, works at Old Corkscrew Golf Club and has built a reputation as both a skilled competitor and professional. His victory adds to an impressive résumé that includes participation in the 2024 Florida Open.
Geminiani made his first FJT appearance in 2008, and would go on to become a five-time Florida Junior Tour Champion. Flash forward seventeen years, Geminiani would make 18 birdies and an eagle to build a seven-shot lead, just after the first 54 holes.
With this victory, Geminiani has earned a spot in the 2025 PGA Professional Championship. In addition, the top four finishers and ties will earn exemptions into the 2025 National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship.
Florida players made a strong showing throughout the leaderboard:
- Michael Kartrude (The Bear's Club) and Evan Bowser (LaPlaya Golf Club) tied for 4th place.
- Alan Morin (Ibis Golf & Country Club) finished tied for 8th.
- Dylan Chang (Seminole Golf Club) secured a tie for 10th.
These results reflect Florida's deep talent pool and its commitment to fostering high-level golf. Congratulations to Domenico and all the Florida competitors for making their mark in this competitive field!
