Four Win Rain Shortened FJT Non-Exempt

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – After storms cancelled round two, four players secured their first FJT victories at Okeeheelee Golf Course.Okeeheelee provided a great test during the first round, but it was no match for Trey Farnsworth, Jose Carlos Lopez-Lay, Meyher Khokar & Sophia Christy.

Boys (16-18)

Being one of the first groups out, Trey Farnsworth set the tone early. Coming out of the gates scorching, Farnsworth eagled the first and never looked back. After a front nine 30, he got it to -7 through 11 holes, before eventually finishing at -5 (67). Farnsworth credited his great play with a newfound mindset of going out there care-free just trying to enjoy his round.

Finishing in second place was Joey Iaciofano with a bogey free round of 68 and in third was Noah Hu with a round of 69. Hu’s round was highlighted by two eagles.

Boys (13-15)

Jose Carlos Lopez-Lay stole the show in the 13-15 Division with a bogey free round of 67. In his 8th FJT event of the year, Lopez Lay set a personal best round by five shots over his previous FJT low to secure his first victory. Birdieing two out of his first four gave him the cushion he needed to play stress free golf the rest of the way to win over Connor Danahy by five shots. Rounding out the podium was Ippei Igarashi with a score of +1 (73).

Girls (16-18)

Meyher Khokhar is a seasoned veteran on the Florida Junior Tour. Coming into this week, the only thing she was missing was her first win. After being the lone player under par out of both girls divisions, she was finally able to secure her first FJT victory with a score of -1 (71). In a tie for second place, Dariana Breto and Aliya Liberatore with scores of +1.

Girls (13-15)

In the Girls 13-15 Division, Sophia Christy was able to secure her first FJT victory with a score of even par. Coming out of the gates sluggish being two over par through her first 12, Christy finished strong playing her last six in -2. With a birdie on the last, Sophia Christy gave herself enough cushion to win by two shots over Keira Shavitranuruk, who fired a round of 74. Rounding out the top 3 was Esther Li, who finished at +3 (75)
