Schneider On Top After Round Two

July 20, 2024

OCALA, Fla. — The weather remained favorable, providing another beautiful day at both Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club and Country Club of Ocala. As the Second Round comes to a close, the field has been cut to 70 players.

What Happened?

Brad Schneider, who bogeyed his very first hole during the First Round is now leading the field after a remarkable day birdieing eight holes. His impressive performance surged him 17 spots up the leaderboard, positioning him as the leader at 9-under heading into Championship Sunday. When asked about his day today, Schneider stated "I had a pretty good start, hit some decent golf shots to start out with and made a few putts. I only had one bogey, and after that I kind of turned it on." When asked about his strategy for tomorrow, Schneider intends to stick to a similar approach as today, citing the pristine green conditions at Golden Ocala as key to his low round of the day, a 65.

The day started with yesterday's solo leader, Matt Borchert birdieing his first hole. However, in true moving day fashion, Brochert would put together a colorful scorecard with six birdies and seven bogeys to finish his day tied for ninth place at 4-under.

Daniel Robinson, tied for second place after the conclusion of Round Two, described his 4-under round as "stress-free." Robinson, who now sits 8-under total stated "I hit 17 greens today, so there weren't many oppurtunites for me to get out of position," Robinson added "I played good yesterday over at Country Club [of Ocala], just couldn't get the putter to work for me, and then Golden Ocala just has the greens is perfect shape, so it's hard to not be confident putting out here."

Cristian DiMarco joins Robinson in second place at 8-under. DiMarco, despite bogeying the thirteenth hole, showcased patience throughout the day until his game began to click. DiMarco stated "I knew that there were birdies out there, and if you try to over power this place [CC of Ocala] it can bite you, so I just stayed pateint and knew birdies were coming."

Greg Koch holds solo fourth place after shooting a 68, fueled by an eagle on the twelfth hole, along with five birdies and three bogeys. Fifth place is shared in a deadlock among four players, while ninth place is occupied by nine players.

What's Next?

The field has been cut to 70 players. The final 18 holes will be played tomorrow at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club. The leaders will tee it off of Hole #1 at 9:50 AM. If necessary, there will be a hole-by-hole "sudden death" play-off for the Championship.
