Three players claim titles at the Inaugural Men’s Net Championship which concluded today at Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
William Gariepy Jr claimed the honors in the age 50 and under division, shooting a net 75-66-141. Rod Lewis came in second, three shots behind Gariepy, with a 70-74-144. Thomas Butler and Scott Philpot tied for third with a grand total of 145.
In the 50-64 age division, Tim Woodward edged out Robert Rosenberger by one stroke to take home the hardware. Woodward’s second round 66 pushed him to the top of the leaderboard with a 72-66-138. Rosenberger came in second with a 139, while Thomas Leighton and Devi Maharajh tied for third with a tournament total of 144.
Dennis Natale shot a tournament low 65 in his second round, which helped him claim the 65 & older title. Natale was in the middle of the pack after the first round with a score of 75 but persevered in the second round with a 65 for a tournament total of 140. Natale’s 140 was good enough for first place, beating out Michael Almaguer by one stroke. Angus Hewitt and Bill Jaros tied for third with a 142 total.
Another highpoint from the tournament was Thomas Leighton’s first round hole-in-one on the par 3, 12th hole.
