Kiko Francisco Coelho | Ryleigh Knaub
SARASOTA, Fla. – Kiko Francisco Coelho and Ryleigh Knaub fired red numbers at Palm Aire County Club to take home the Florida Junior Tour wins on Sunday at the Exempt Only event. This is the third FJT win for Coelho and the first this season, while Kanub collected her fourth FJT victory and her first in 2021.
Boys 13-18
Coelho used a final-round 68 to take home the win in the Boys’ Division, finishing the weekend at 6-under 138. He began the weekend with a 2-under 70 in Saturday’s first round to sit two shots back of the first-round leader, Beni Long (68).
Starting the final round in a tie for fourth, Coelho got off to a quick start with a birdie on the first. His only hiccup of the day came on the third with a bogey, he played the rest of the day bogey free. Coelho added a birdied on the ninth to make turn at 1 under for the day.
The Lake Mary native birdied three more on the back side, including a birdie on 18th to secure the win. Coelho posted a final-round 68 to capture the one-shot victory.
Nicholas Prieto and Shawn Coultoff finished in a tie for second at 5-under 139, both finishing the weekend with rounds of 69-70. Three players took a share of fourth place at 4-under 140: Joshua Stewart, Matthew Yamin and Boyi (Barry) Zhang.
Long, who held the first-round lead, finished in a tie for 15th at 1-under 143, after a final-round 75.
Girls 13-18
Knaub went wire-to-wire to earn the victory at Palm Aire, carding a 5-under 139 for the weekend. She took a share of the first-round lead with Jordan Fischer and Katelyn Huber at 2-under 70 on Saturday. She carded a bogey-free first round with a birdie on the first and the 18th.
The Winter Springs native posted a 1-under front side in the final round. Knaub finished the day with a bogey-free back nine, adding two birdies. He secured the two-shot win with a final-round 69.
Kelly Shanahan picked up a runner-up finish at 3-under 141. She finished the weekend with rounds of 72-69. Knaub and Shanahan’s final round 69 was the low round of the weekend for the Girls’ Division.
Fischer and Huber, who held a share of the first-round lead, both finished in a tie for third at 2-under 140.
