Thirty-Four Teams Advance to Interclub Playoffs

TAMPA, Fla. – Thirty-four teams have punched their ticket to the FSGA Interclub playoffs to begin this week across the state. The Interclub Team Matches are a state-wide competition between clubs. 

 The 2021 Interclub season began in January with over 100 clubs competing in a six-week regular season. Regional playoffs will begin on Thursday, as teams compete to be crowned Regional champion. The 34 remaining teams will face off in bracket-style play within their region, playing two matches to determine who will advance. 

 The eight Regional champions will advance to the Interclub State Championship to be held at Streamsong Resort at the beginning of April. 

Central Region

Sun 'N Lake Golf Club and Orange Tree Golf Club are the lone two teams standing in the Central Region and they will face off for the Regional title. Sun ‘N Lake ended the regular season with four wins and two loses. Orange Tree picked up five wins and a single loss and will look to return to the state championship for the second-straight season.

Naples Region

Forest Glen Golf & Country Club and The Club at Olde Cypress will meet in the first round of playoffs. Forest Glen earned three wins and one loss in the regular season, while Olde Cypress finished with four victories and a loss. Quail Creek Country Club will look to earn another trip to the state championship, after finishing tied for second in 2019. They will take on Quail West Golf & Country Club in the first round. Both finished regular play with three wins and a loss, with Quail West earning the wildcard spot.

Naples (Fort Myers) Region

Fiddlestick Country Club will take on LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort in the first round. LaPlaya took home two wins, a loss and a tie in the regular season, while Fiddlesticks finished up with three wins, two losses and a tie. Cypress Lake Golf Club will face Sanctuary Golf Club, who picked up the wildcard spot. Cypress Lake earned the most wins in the Region, ending with four wins and two losses. Sanctuary secured the wildcard spot with three wins, two losses and a tie.

Northeast 1 Region

The Golf Club at North Hampton will play Atlantic Beach Country Club in the playoff. Both teams finished up the regular season with four wins. Plantation Bay Golf and Country Club will look to return to the state championship for the second-straight season, as they face Jacksonville Golf and Country Club. Plantation Bay secured five wins on their way to the playoffs, while Jacksonville earned the wildcard spot with four wins.

Northeast 2 Region

Julington Creek Golf Club and The Palencia Club are the two teams left in the Northeast 2 Region. Palencia earned five wins on their way to the playoff, while Julington Creek picked up four wins and two losses.

Sun Coast Region

Laurel Oak Country Club will take on Heron Creek Golf and Country Club in the playoffs. The two teams ended the regular season with four wins and two losses. Esplanade Golf and Country Club faces off against the wildcard, TPC Prestancia. Esplanade picked up four wins and a loss in the regular season while TPC Prestancia took three wins and two losses.

Panhandle Region

Regatta Bay Golf and Country Club and Tiger Point Golf and Country Club are the two teams left in the Panhandle Region. Tiger Point secured five wins and one loss in the regular season, while Regatta Bay took home three wins and two losses.

Tampa Region

Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club will face off against Westchase Golf Club in the first round of the playoffs. Both teams picked up four wins and two losses in the regular season. Cypress Run Golf Club, the wildcard of the Tampa Region, will take on Innisbrook Resort. The two teams finished regular play with four wins, one loss and one tie.

Treasure Coast Region

Dubsdread Golf Club will take on Timacuan Golf and Country Club, after both teams took home five wins and one loss in the regular season. The Fox Club will take on Heathrow Country Club, the wildcard team, in the first round.

West Region

The 2014 Interclub champions, Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club will play Summerfield Crossing Golf Club in the first round. The Club at Cheval, who picked up the wildcard spot, will take on Eagle Ridge Golf Club, after Eagle Ridge earned the best record in the regular season (5-0-1).
