The windy conditions and very fast putting surfaces made for a difficult first day at the Senior Amateur Championship at Adena Golf & Country Club in Ocala. Sam Till sets the pace with a lovely 67 (-5) to lead a handful of players who are within a few shots of the lead, including Richard Kerper and Peter Wegman who stand one back at 68.
The highlight of the day came when the group of Sam Till, Randy Elliott, and John Latowski reached the beautiful par-3 5th. Till had the honor and hit a great shot that never left the flag and rolled into the hole for an ace. Elliott was next play and had a little trouble following Till's ace; however, Latowski stepped up and pulled his tee shot a little left, but the ball bounced and rolled perfectly off the slopes and joined Till's ball in the hole for another ace!!!
Golf Digest estimates the odds of two hole-in-ones in the same group, and on the same hole, at nearly 26 million to 1.
