Round two saw a change at the top of the leaderboard at the 39th Florida Senior Open hosted by Belleair Country Club, August 15. Rick Woulfe, round one leader, struggled to finish his second round with a two-over par, 73 on the West Course. After three bogeys on the front-nine and only one birdie on hole number six, Woulfe did not have much momentum going into the back-nine and finished with an even par, 35. With a two-day total of 139 (-3), Rick finished tied for third heading into the final round. Also tied for third are Doug Dunakey, Tim Hume, and David Hoover.
Two players tied for first play after round two, Eduardo Herrera and Brigham Gibbs. Both players were tied for second after the first day and came back with strong rounds of 69 for a two-day total 136 (-6). Herrera, professional from Windermere, played the West Course where he started out on fire with four birdies on the front-nine. After a double-bogey on the 10th hole, Herrera fought back with two birdies on holes 11 and 14 to jump up the leaderboard. Brigham Gibbs, amateur from Miami, stayed positive after a double-bogey on the first hole and finished his round with five birdies. The two players lead the Championship by three strokes.
After two rounds of golf, the cut was made at six-over par, 148. Sixty players advance to the final round tomorrow being played on the West Course at Belleair Country Club with tee times beginning at 7:30 AM.
