Wilson Performance Golf Academy was founded in 2016. Lead Instructor Chris Wilson has spent over 25 years teaching the game of golf to both adults and junior golfers. Wilson’s methodology is simple, build a solid base of fundamentals and work within the students physical abilities. He feels there is no “one size fits all” swinging motion. As a student of the game Wilson is well versed in all the great teachers swing theory and has had the privilege of working closely with or observing many of today’s top instructors including Rick Smith, John Elliott and the founder of modern golf instruction, David Leadbetter. Wilson has coached a number of college players in addition to a handful of LPGA winners. In addition to working on the physical mechanics of the game, we also do work on the mental aspects of the game.. Good course management, control of emotions and tournament preparation are covered in depth. Wilson Performance Golf has a working relationship with Dr. Bob Winters, one of the original (and best) mental coaches, who has guest instructed with us in the past and will again in the future! Our academy also keeps price in mind! Our goal is to bring as many young people into the game of golf as possible. In that regard, we do offer both full and partial scholarships to families who can demonstrate financial need. Golf is an expensive sport to learn and play so we work hard with local courses to promote inexpensive junior golf memberships. Our home course, Ocala Palms among them.
