OCALA, Fla. – The teams are set and the Women’s Southeastern Challenge Matches are upon us. The Southeastern Challenge is a tri-state biennial competition between Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. The FSGA selects eight players to make up the team and represent Florida against Georgia and Alabama. The team consists of Four Women Senior Amateurs (50 & older), two senior players with the highest point totals from the Women’s Senior Two-Year Points List, and two senior players selected by the FSGA Championship Committee. In addition, the other four players make up two women with the highest point totals from the Women’s Two-Year Points List, and two women selected by the FSGA Championship Committee.
The event is set to take place August 9-11 at Club Adena in Ocala. The first day of matches will begin Saturday, August 10th with the four-ball matches in the morning. Upon completion of the four-ball matches, the foursomes matches will begin followed by a team dinner. Finally, on Sunday, August 11, the three-ball matches will take place and then a champion will be crowned. A three-ball match is a form of match play where each of three players plays an individual match against the other two players at the same time, and each player plays one ball that is used in both of their matches. For example, Florida will compete in a match against Georgia, and a separate one against Alabama simultaneously.
Florida holds two overall victories while defending champions, Georgia, hold three overall victories. Keep reading to meet the eight fantastic players that make up the team that will be vying to steal the title and raise the trophy as the 2024 Women’s Southeastern Challenge Champions.
