Golod and Silva Take Home the Hardware

May 30, 2022

CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla.- Mykhailo Golod and Ariana Silva both took home their first Florida Junior Tour trophies with a win at the FJT ChampionsGate 54-Hole Major. Both players battled the heat to come out victorious over Memorial Day weekend.

Boys (13-15)

Even though Golod held onto the lead after each round, it was a back and forth battle between him and many other players. After getting off to a two over par start, the Davenport native was able to birdie his 15th and 16th holes to break out of a tie for first place. His one shot victory was highlighted by a first round 67 (-5).

Desmond and Russell both finished in a two-way tie for second with scores of five under par. Russell’s tournament was highlighted by a final round 69 (-3) while Desmond shot 67 (-5) in the first round.

Girls (13-15)

Silva was the star of the tournament, after a second round 65 (-7) that led her to an eight shot victory. Silva made eight birdies in her second round to break away from the pack and all she needed was an even par round of 72 to blow the field away.

Faana finished solo second with a total score of one over par. She kept it very steady the whole tournament, and impressively, did not make a score worse than bogey over 54 holes.

Wang and Donaldson both finished in a tie for third place after shooting a three day total of eight over par.
