TAMPA, Fla. – Two-hundred and fifty-six of the best amateurs will travel to the West Coast for 2021 U.S Amateur Four-Ball Championship, hosted by Chambers Bay in University Place, Washington. Site of the 2015 U.S. Open and 2010 U.S Amateur, this will be Chambers Bay’s third time hosting a USGA event.

The 128 teams of two making the trip to the West Coast look to find themselves in the top 32 after the first two rounds of stroke play to qualify for match play. In that field of 128 teams, we find 11 Floridians hoping to etch their place in history at the end of the week.

Here are some things to know about the Floridians in the field before the championship begins.

Marc Dull and Chip Brooke have a history of great play at the U.S Amateur Four-Ball with their runner-up finish in 2018, that was hosted in Florida at Jupiter Hills. Dull and Brooke followed that performance by advancing to match play in 2019, but were bounced in the first round by the eventual runner-ups. Despite the 2020 installment of the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball being cancelled, the teammates came back together to hoist the trophy at the 2020 FSGA Two-Man Scramble Championship.

2020 Boys’ Junior champion, Kiko Francisco Coelho, is teaming up with one of the players he edged out in the championship, Leopoldo Herrera, as they both make their first USGA appearances. Both multiple-time FJT champions, they will look to translate those performances to the big stage as the take on top Amateurs from all across the country.

Marc France and Carl Santos-Ocampo have the team chemistry necessary to make a run in the event, as they took home the 2020 Florida Mid-Amateur Four-Ball. Their experience in USGA Championships will be an asset as both have played in multiple U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship.

Another team with strong showings in FSGA events that will be making the trip to Washington is Will Davenport and Mike Smith. The duo teamed up to capture the 2020 Florida Foursomes Championship in December. Their 63 at Lago Mar Country Club was enough to capture the final qualifying spot in the championship.

Teammates at Stetson University, Dustin Dingus and Ed Walker, had never played a partner competition together before the qualifying round of the Championship. Dingus will be making his second appearance at a U.S Amateur Four-Ball after playing with Sean Fromme in 2018.

Florida Junior Tour alum Chandler Morris will be making his second U.S. Amateur Four-Ball appearance as he qualified with his former University of Connecticut teammate, Jared Nelson.
