Zhang & Lefebvre Pick Up Wins at Lake Jovita

DADE CITY, Fla. – Boyi (Barry) Zhang and Sabree Lefebvre came out on top on Sunday at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club. Facing a strong exempt-only field, Zhang earned his second Florida Junior Tour win and Lefebvre picked up her third victory.

Boys 13-18

In just his third FJT start, Zhang picked up his second victory with a 6-under 138. He started the weekend with a 1-under 71 on Saturday, finishing the day with three-straight birdies to sit six-shots back of the leader.

The Lake Mary native got off to a hot start in the final round with a birdie on the second. He added back-to-back birdies to close out the front side. Zhang added four more birdies on the back nine, including a birdie on the 17th hole to take the outright lead. He finished the final round with a 5-under 67 to take home the two-shot win.

Three players finished the weekend in a tie for second place at 4-under 140: Alex Long, Nicholas Prieto and Reggie Zhu. Zhang, Zhu, Prieto and Shawn Coultoff were the only four players in the field to finish with two rounds under par.

James Hassell, who held the first-round lead, posted the low round of the weekend with a 7-under 65 in the first round. The Vero Beach native finished in a tie for seventh place with a 2-under 142.

Girls 13-18

Lefebvre used a strong first round to take home her first FJT win of the year, finishing the weekend at 1-over 145. She fired a 3-under 69 in the first round to take a one-shot lead over the field. Lefebvre birdied three-straight birdies to close out the front side on Saturday and finished the day with back-to-back birdies.

The Riverview native had a slow start to the final round with back-to-back bogeys to start the day. She turned around quickly and played the next seven holes bogey-free with a birdie on the 17th. Lefebvre headed to the final hole of the day in a tie for first with Kavya Ajjarapu at 2 over for the tournament.

Lefebvre birdied the final hole of the day to capture the victory with a final-round 76. Ajjarapu finished the tournament in a tie for second with Lauren Clark at 2-over 146.

Results
