Things to Know: 13th Florida Cup

TAMPA, Fla. – The top amateurs from around the state of Florida will make their way to Naples for the Florida Cup. A Ryder Cup style event, the Florida Cup will pit the top amateurs from North and South Florida against each other.

Here's everything you need to know about the 13th Florida Cup, which will be held October 15-16 at Bay Colony Golf Club.

Meet the Teams: North Team | South Team

Competition: The first day of the championship will consist of four-ball matches in the morning, followed by foursomes matches in the afternoon. The final day is reserved for 16 singles matches.

Host Course: Bay Colony Golf Club, located in Naples, opened in 1993 and was designed by Robert von Hagge. The Naples club will play host to its first Florida Cup.

Scoring: Each match is worth one point to the team total. In the results of a tied match, a 1/2 point will go to each team.

Florida Cup History: The North Team reclaimed the cup in 2018 with a 16.5-15.5 win at Hammock Dunes Club, winning its first Florida Cup since 2011. The two teams are tied in overall team victories at 6-6. View full history here.

How the Florida Cup Teams Are Made: Each team consists of 12 amateurs and four senior amateurs.

How to Win the Florida Cup: To win the Florida Cup outright, a team must collect 16 1/2 points. In the case of a 16-16 draw, the winning team from the previous year retains the trophy for an additional year. The North Team, the 2018 champion, would retain the trophy in the event of a tie at Bay Colony.
